In order to meet the needs of craftsmen in the construction sector and their highly mobile way of working, a smartphone application was developed to raise awareness on occupational risks. This free and embedded application allows users (employees, managers, spouses ...) access to information sorted by profession or by risk, presented in the form of synthetic and operational "memos" and adapted to their specificities. As the first application of its kind in France, this solution is adapted to the mobility of craftsmen and constitutes an innovative way to bring prevention into construction sites.
Ziel und Zweck
The smartphone app "Memos" allows craftsmen in the construction sector free access to a range of information on health and safety specific to their professions and their risks. This information is provided in the form of synthetic "Memos" on health and safety, which are both illustrated and field-oriented. Some information is also available in an interactive way. With this innovative application, the user can access the database at any time (in the workshop or on construction sites) and apply the good practices with regard to prevention. Apart from free, the application is called "embedded", meaning that it is accessible at all times for the users, regardless of the quality of the network. This is essential for the craftsmen, who don't necessarily have sufficient reception on certain construction sites. Far from being a static application, it is regularly updated with new resources, according to the current situation and user needs. This solution is thus adapted to the mobility of the craftsmen and helps to bring health and safety reflexes to construction sites in an innovative way.
Since many years, IRIS-ST publishes material to raise awareness on occupational risks, in print and online. However, since smartphones have become unavoidable as method of communication, the Institute decided to develop an application fully dedicated to prevention, to disseminate as many good practices as possible. To date, "Memos" is the only application on the French market dedicated to the prevention of occupational risks across all sectors. This new open window on prevention allows craftsmen in the construction sector easier access to information, which aims at protecting their safety in all places and at all times. Far from wanting to be a simple communication gadget, this application responds to a real need of adaptation to new forms of communication increasingly used by craftsmen. Indeed, today, nearly one third of the craftsmen reported having a smartphone - the phone also becoming a working tool in itself.
Zielgruppe
The target group of this application are traditional construction companies. Indeed, in France, 98% of construction companies are companies with less than 20 employees, which represent more than 700,000 employees. These workers are spread across nearly 400
