Silica is a mineral used in many products. Airborne silica dust can penetrate deep into your lungs and cause irreversible lung damage including silicosis. WorkSafe ACT produced this video showing why working with silica can be harmful, and what you need to do to control the risks. This video is for workplaces who modify silica containing materials and anyone who might work with silica producing materials in their workplace. It gives an introductory understanding of how to be safe when working with silica, and where you can get more information. The messaging and visuals are clear and simple, to capture the target audiences of new workers, young workers, and culturally and linguistically diverse workers.
Ziel und Zweck

Airborne silica dust can penetrate deep into your lungs and cause irreversible lung damage including silicosis. The Working Safely with Silica video aims to help workers and workplaces: - understand their obligations and responsibilities under the legislation reforms - provide better protection for people working with silica containing materials - understand silica management in workplaces, ensuring employers and businesses adopt and promote best practice - have access to a single, reliable source of information regarding silica practice.
