The Social Security Organization (SOCSO) of Malaysia has conducted Vision Zero Short Video Competition in October 2022 to expand the reach of publicity and customer service thus increased awareness through the reach of social media. This short video named as “Rileks lah bro...” has been awarded as the second winner. “Rileks” means a calm and stress-free commute, while the term of “bro” has taken on a wider range of connotations and can be used to convey various meanings depending on the context and tone of the conversation. A relaxing driving environment might include ensuring that your vehicle is clean and comfortable, adjusting the temperature and lighting to your liking, and practicing safe and attentive driving habits. “Rileks lah bro…” video addresses common driver errors associated with workers commute to and back from work. Whether it is out of habit, lack of awareness, or indifference to the other vehicles around us, people tend to repeatedly make the same mistakes when behind the wheel. In Malaysia, two-thirds of reported workplace-related fatal and serious injury incidents are the result of commuting crashes. Nearly 80 percent of the commuting accident for the past 10 years, was caused by human error. Negative attitudes on the road can lead to collisions and even serious injury. Embracing, improving and maintaining good attitude and behaviours to driving are key components to making our roads safer. Planning your route before you head out can save you time and hassle and help you avoid being in an accident. With a safe driving attitude, road users can develop safe and responsible driving behaviour and make the roads better places for everyone. Employers play a significant role in conveying the importance of safe driving to and from work. In this video, there are some tips for a safer commute: plan ahead, use safety equipment, avoid distractions, and be aware of your surroundings.
Ziel und Zweck
This short video aims to express commuting accidents prevention message through popular genre and medium to bigger audience base and serve as one of the mediums of publicity in raising awareness and educate the public about the risks and dangers of commuting accidents, with the intention of reducing the number of accidents and improving overall road safety. The specific goals may include: encouraging safe and responsible behaviour among road users, such as following traffic rules and wearing seat belts, besides raising awareness about the risks and dangers of commuting accidents, including the impact they can have on individuals, families, and communities as well as fostering a culture of road safety where all road users are committed to making the roads safer for everyone.
