Ayşe Işık is a daughter of a farmer. She lost both of her arms in a farming accident while she was 5 years old. She started to use her legs as her arms with the help of her family. She met with the art of painting in time and held on to life. This film displays the whole life of Ayşe Işık from the accident to her current life as well as her adventure of painting, with the witnessing of herself, her family and her art teacher. At the end of film, Işık family gives a message that being conscious and informed could avoid farming accidents.

Ziel und Zweck

I am of the opinion that importance of labor health and safety in agriculture is not known enough in Turkey. I would like to indicate that farming accidents also cause the loss of lives as much as the accidents in construction and mining sectors in Turkey. I want to underline that farming accidents could be avoided with the measures to be taken. Issue of farming accidents has a broad scope. In this film, I wanted to highlight that “Families working in agricultural sector should take measures for preventing their children from possible accidents.”

Based on a true farming accident, I would like to focus on the importance of farming accidents through the animation of accident moment and the expressions of both the victim and witnesses of event. I would like to display the solution for avoiding the accident empathically by way of the statements of witnesses instead of a didactic narration. To do so, I preferred to produce this film in a documentary format for reaching wide audience through media.
