Million of people in the world work in noisy working environment every day. Because some people don’t protect their ears, thousands of cases of deafness due to noise occur every year. What is actually happening to our ears when exposed to noises? Our hearing organ is composed of outer ear, middle ear, and inner ear. The earlobe catches the sound, and the sound gets into ear canal, vibrates the eardrum. Vibration on the eardrum will vibrate the malleus, incus, and stapes. This will then hit the cochlear. Inside the cochlear, there are cells that flow the sound vibration to the hearing nerves and carry it on to the brain to be identified, what sound would that be? The ears that are constantly exposed to the noises will have permanently damaged cells. To protect the ears, earplug is suitable for long-term use. Earmuff is suitable for short-term use. Do not replace earplug with earphone, because it will add the noise received by the ears. Do not only wear earplug and earmuff when the supervisor is around. And do not replace earplug or earmuff with cotton. Earplug and earmuff protect the hearing by lessening the noise level. Check the Noise Reduction Ratings or NRR on the packaging. Wear the earplug or earmuff properly so it can really reduce the noise received by the ears. Deafness due to noises is incurable; it is permanent, but it can be prevented 100%. Healthy hearing will make your future days happier.
