Product description
“Occupational Health Hunt” is an interactive multimedia training software utilizing the latest technology of CGI animations and virtual reality simulations. In this interactive program, users will take part in the investigation with the occupational hygienist who is assigned to identify the causes of occupational diseases by inspecting the working environment and examining the patient, and to provide preventive measures based on findings. There are a total of 20 computer-simulated occupational disease cases for selection, in which the occupational diseases are grouped into four different categories: “Occupational Asthma”, “Contact Dermatitis”, “Tenosynovitis” and “Occupational Infection”, and work-related diseases are grouped into two different categories: “Heat Stroke” and “Lower Limb Musculoskeletal Disorders”. In each case, users can move around freely in the working environment in order to identify and confirm the causes of relevant occupational disease. Criticism or compliment will be given by the chief doctor based on the user’s performance after the game time is up, and the user may review and learn the circumstances of disease; causes of disease and preventive measures after the game.
Aims and objectives
This multimedia product aims to acquire employers and employees in various industries with a better knowledge on the causes of common occupational diseases in different sectors, and to learn the best precautionary measures in order to create and maintain a safe and healthy working environment. For Secondary and University students who will join the workforce in the near future, this product could cultivate their interest on occupational safety and health, and equip them with the concept and basic fundamental knowledge of occupational diseases that are commonly seen in various industries; their causes and relevant preventive measures, which in term encourage a better safety culture.
As one of the leading organizations in the region for ensuring all individuals would operate in working conditions that are free of risk and hazards, The Occupational Safety & Health Council in Hong Kong works in partnership with government, employers, employees, professionals and academics through a wide range of quality services, striving to create impact on key areas including safety education for the young; safety training for the working population and building of safety culture and awareness at community level. To accomplish this mandate, we produced this multimedia product for the delivery of knowledge in occupational diseases that are most commonly seen and relevant control measures in order to help eliminate, and if not possible, reduce the risks in workplaces to an acceptable level. The use of multimedia not only helps users visualize the scenarios more easily, it also serves the purpose of attracting and encouraging users of different ages, especially the younger population in learning and understanding occupational safety and health through this fun and interesting learning experience. As for the working population, this program offers an alternative way in safety training, allowing users to experience lively and realistic working conditions in various industries all at once in a safe environment.
