Safety risk management of deep excavation is chosen to demonstrate the application. The BIM-3DGIS platform, working with the AI algorithms, can monitor the risk variation and provide visual decision-making supports.

Background

Deep excavation has the features of large investment, long project cycle, and complex technology. There are many risks in construction phase and may result in serious accidents harming to people and properties. Traditionally, most risk monitoring works use two-dimensional charts that require further analysis to determine risk level. Sometimes, the traditional approach would cause information delay and misjudgment. The ICT application can facilitate collecting sensor data, analyzing risk variation, identifying location, and supporting decision-making to promote safety risk management performance. The integration of BIM and 3DGIS (BIM-3DGIS) can better monitor large-scale infrastructures or consider surrounding facilities near construction site. The AI algorithms can also provide more reliable decision supports.
