Descripción del producto
Radio, navigator, mobile phone – although driving a car requires full concentration, ever-new media distract us from driving. With split screens, the film shows the "fragmentation" of ones own attention. We overestimate ourselves - until it is too late. The film "You were simply gone" is a contribution to the #mythosmultitasking contest of the initiative "Runter vom Gas" ("Slow Down") of the German Road Safety Council (DVR) and the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI). However, it can also be understood as an appeal of being concentrated and attentive on ones everyday way to work, in order to prevent fatal accidents. All driving situations shown in the film were produced remote from public road traffic (CGI).
Objetivos y metas
Multitasking on your way to work is considered to be a threat to you and others. Concentrate, especially on the road, on one thing: on arriving safe and sound. Otherwise, you will put yourself and other road users in mortal danger.
It was our claim to show in only 30 seconds, how dangerous it is to do several things at the same time. This did not only require a tight composition. We waive a change of scene and tell our story strictly from the inside cabin of a car. Radio, navigator, mobile phone – although driving a car requires full concentration, ever-new media distract us from driving. We underestimate the risk – until it is too late. There are two nameless persons in the car, it could be you or me on the way to work. They have a typical conversation: "Turn the radio louder" or when the mobile phone rings and "mum" appears in the display: "Your mother". We choose a strongly acoustic approach. Sound sources, such as engine noise, radio, navigator and mobile phone, are getting denser and noisier. We support the cumulatively generated perturbation of concentration cut-technically by so-called split screens. The woman's "fragmentation" of concentration takes its course – until a crash occurs. The remaining signal tone in the line and the ambiguous wording "You were simply gone" of an irritated mother, who just talked to her daughter, lets the spectator feel realistically, what just happened: a – probably – fatal accident. The conclusion "Be honest: Not everything can be done at the same time.“ puts it in a nutshell. We constantly deceive ourselves. We could if we only wanted to. Hence, we only have to want. Otherwise, we will be dead.
