3D animated films address selected instructional topics on safe working practices specifically tailored for the waste disposal industry. The explanatory films aim to ensure a sustainable transfer of learning content related to occupational safety and health. The presentation of the topics tailored to the target audience is designed to promote safe behavior during the following selected activities:
- Utilizing the footboard on waste collection vehicles during collection drives
- Handling containers at the landfill
- Maintenance of facilities and troubleshooting
- Maneuvering vehicles in delivery and loading areas within waste disposal facilities
- Safe handling of bales.

Objectif et finalité

The aims of the instructional videos are:
- identifying hazards using examples of typical accident hotspots and demonstrating suitable behaviors to avoid them; this is combined with applying the knowledge to one's own work situation and behavior;
- communicating safety-compliant behaviors concerning the work environment, work processes, disturbances and frequently tolerated misconduct;
- raising awareness of the significant impact one's own behavior can have on avoiding work accidents for oneself and others;
- recognizing the added value achieved by preventing accidents, e.g. preventing pain, acute and possibly permanent health damage, feelings of guilt and potential psychological consequences, reduced earning capacity and general
participation in life (also property damage and costs - but secondary in our view);
- fostering solidarity between the instructed and the instructor by establishing a shared goal in the company to preserve the health, performance and participation in life for all colleagues. Through the creation and distribution of the animated
films, BG Verkehr aims to raise awareness among as many people as possible from the target groups for these topics and thus positively influence the occurrence of accidents. The explanatory videos designed to:
- focus on essential content without distracting viewers with trivialities or details;
- present facts from the viewer's experience in a clearly recognizable way, through use of playful staging, while avoiding unintended personal references, e.g. negative behaviors without blame and positive behaviors without a know-it-all
attitude;
- encourage conversations about the content of the explanatory videos both within and without the instructional setting, e.g. through a surprise effect due to the presentation method or the emphasized aspects of the presented facts. The
explanatory videos present facts, beliefs, behaviors and operating procedures that the viewers can relate to in their everyday lives. Waste management companies can clearly identify with the way they are presented. In designing the
instructional videos, the importance of the following perspectives is emphasized without being overwhelming:
- Safety routines which involve prudent behavior in potentially dangerous situations, and if necessary, a ritualized sequence of action steps with no interruption or deviations allowed - not externally imposed as a "drill", but stemming from a
comprehensive understanding of the hazards and possible consequences.
- Adhering to agreements, arrangements and rules for safe and smooth processes. Employees withstand the pressure of expectations from customers and road users as well as the general pressure of time and action, by maintaining a safe
routine.
- cultivating a self-image as a reliable partner for others and for oneself - a professional takes responsibility in their field of activity, is aware of the dangers involved in their work, does not allow themself to be distracted, thinks of others and is
reliable.
