Description du produit

This website answers the question "How loud is too loud?" when it comes to noise in the workplace, and gives users a chance to check on the "age" of their ears. Users can also find information on what to do about noise in their workplace.

Objectif et finalité

Long-term exposure to noise can cause permanent hearing loss. This condition – often referred to as noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) – is almost completely preventable, especially when the noise exposure happens in the workplace.

Noise induced hearing loss (NIHL) can have a profound effect on a person’s ability to function at work, and in their life generally. Many find their hearing loss embarrassing, so will go to great lengths to hide it. They likely find it difficult to understand conversations around them, so may avoid social situations, and become isolated. This can lead to mental health issues like depression and anxiety.

Between 2006 and 2015, approximately 30,000 people needed support from the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) for work-related NIHL. That’s 30,000 people whose work-related injuries could have been prevented.
