Descripción del producto

On average, one person dies or is seriously each month as a result of contact with an overhead power line while driving or operating road transport, road haulage or tipper/HIAB type vehicles. In the last five years, there were over 500 near-miss incidents involving road transport and haulage or tipper type  vehicles  and overhead power lines where serious injury or death was a possibility.

In response to the scale of such incidents, Energy Networks Association and GB’s electricity network operators have once gain joined forces to provide advice to the above target audience as part of the Look Out Look Up safety campaign – the key objectives are once again to:

  • Raise awareness of the risks of overhead power lines
  • Increase understanding of how to deal with them safely
  • Motivate people who may come into contact with power lines to adopt safe behaviours
  • Encourage people to recognise 105 as the national number for power emergencies across the UK

Objetivos y metas

The 2019 new video is part of a campaign aimed at third parties engaged in activities in which equipment such as lorry mounted tippers, cranes, and grabs are used. These types of vehicles are used in many sectors including construction, agriculture, waste/recycling, and retail (e.g. building supplies merchants and animal feed delivery). The aims are to :

  • raise awareness of the risks and dangers of working close to overhead power lines;
  • promote the universal 105 phone number used to report power cuts or emergencies; and
  • promote safe behaviours/good practice

The video complements the ongoing network sector work to stop the number of inadvertent contacts with OHPLs - thus reducing the number of fatal and near fatal injuries and also reducing the number of power outages that usually occur as a result of an inadvertent OHPL contact.
