Product description
“The old man and the wall” is a short film that tells the story of Mimmo, known as Hemingway, and the mural that portrays him. Mimmo's skin, burned and eaten by the sun due to years of hard work in road construction sites in the absence of adequate protective measures, is an allegory of the fatigue and suffering to which one often becomes resistant when working in the sun, in a hot summer, at close range from the hot bitumen that flattens the roads.
It is precisely the mural, with its worn, peeling and sun-faded colors, that will mark a sort of catharsis for Mimmo, recognizing himself in it, in fact, he will not rest until the artist of the opera will not make a single, decisive change: a hat to shield it from the sun's rays.
Aims and objectives
The short film aims to make workers aware of the damage caused by prolonged exposure to sunlight, and, through the narrative, to increase awareness of health risks, in particular tumors and skin diseases deriving from prolonged exposure to the sun's rays solar. The recipients of the product are workers in the construction and agricultural sectors, who are most exposed to the risk of sun radiation.
Through cinematic language and the use of popular language, the aim was to raise awareness among agricultural and construction workers on a particular type of health risk that is often underestimated.
