Terms and Conditions of Participation for the International Media Festival for Prevention 2023 Competition

The International Media Festival for Prevention (IMFP) will take place from 27 to 30 November 2023 as part of the XXIII World Congress on Safety and Health at Work in Sydney, Australia.

The organisers with responsibility for the IMFP (hereinafter referred to as “Organisers”) are Berufsgenossenschaft Energie Textil Elektro Medienerzeugnisse (Institution for Statutory Accident Insurance and Prevention in the Precision Engineering and Electrical Industry in Germany), Gustav-Heinemann-Ufer 130, 50968 Köln, Germany/the Electricity and Information sections of the International Social Security Association.

The Electricity Section of the International Social Security Association (ISSA) has established a Festival Working Group for preparation of the IMFP.

1. Participants in IMFP 2023 competition

All parties interested in participating in the competition are invited and entitled to do so, including but not limited to institutions involved in the work field of safety and health at work, companies, agencies, film producers, multimedia companies and television broadcasters (hereinafter referred to as “Participants”).

2. Contributions accepted

The Festival Working Group will decide on the admission of each contribution. Contributions can consist of films or multimedia applications (hereinafter “contributions”) that address the topics of “Safety and health in the workplace and road traffic safety”.

Contributions should pursue one of the following objectives:

  • Motivation or instructions for safe behaviour
  • Focusing attention on or creating awareness for recognising hazards in the workplace/in road traffic
  • Improving company organisation/communication

Contributions will be accepted in all languages. All contributions are required to have been produced after 1 January 2019.

There is no right to admission. Contributions which fail to meet the above criteria or which feature offensive, radical, harmful, dangerous, hateful or violent content can be rejected by the IMFP Organisers.

3. Format and medium

Contributions can be submitted via the Organisers’ website or as DVDs (PAL/NTSC) or data CDs/DVDs. Such contributions will only be accepted in compressed form in the formats .mp4, .webM or .ogv. Online contributions can only be submitted as a web link specifying the complete URL.

The Participants are responsible for the technical quality of the contributions. They must ensure that there is no loss of quality resulting from transmission of the contributions.

4. Registration for the IMFP competition

An online registration form must be filled out for each contribution submitted. The form is available at www.mediainprevention.org. Registration of contributions must be submitted in English, Spanish, French or German.

5. Submission

Contributions submitted as DVDs or data CDs/DVDs are to be sent to the following address after registration has been successfully completed using the online registration form:

Participants are requested to include with their submissions a copy of the registration confirmation they receive by e-mail in order to ensure clear identification and allocation of their submissions.

Participants accept the obligation to bear any and all costs incurred, in particular shipping fees, any insurance costs, customs duties and any other processing fees. The Organisers assume no guarantee for customs clearance. However, the Organisers will not charge the Participants any fee for participation itself or for any editing of the contributions.

6. Entry deadline

The deadline for entries is 28 February 2023. Contributions submitted after this date will not be eligible for participation. However, the Organisers reserve the right to move the entry deadline to a later date.

7. Selection and awards

An independent international jury comprising experts from the fields of communication and prevention selected by the Festival Working Group will decide in June 2023 which contributions are to be nominated. The Participants will be notified of these decisions. The jury will assess all contributions admitted, pick the nominees and choose the award winners by simple majority. The IMFP award winners will be announced at the XXIII World Congress. No non-cash prizes will be awarded.

8. Broadcasting and publication

Provided that Participants have given their consent, all contributions admitted by the Festival Working Group will be made available in the IMFP media centre (www.mediainprevention.org). Nominated contributions will be shown during the the XXIII World Congress in the Festival cinema and made publicly accessible in a media centre (Media Bar). The media centre and contributions will be made publicly accessible at the latest following the end of the Festival.

9. Participation fees

No fees are charged for participation in the competition.

10. Relationship to the World Congress

Participation in the competition does not confer the right to participate in the World Congress. The Organisers are under no obligation to register Participants for participation in the World Congress or to forward any such registration. Participation in the World Congress under the terms and conditions stipulated for the Congress is a prerequisite of personal attendance at the award ceremony in Sydney.

11. Data protection

Please note that personal data concerning award-winning Participants will be published pursuant to the privacy policy. If award-winning Participants are unable to attend the award ceremony, the award will be sent to the respective Participants by post.

12. Incorporation of General Terms and Conditions

In all other respects, the General Terms and Conditions (as of November 2019) shall apply.
