Product description

The interactive online tool "questionnaire for the assessment of mental workload FEMA" is the result of the development of an ergonomic representation to supplement both quantitatively and qualitativly the objective employment analysis in regard to the assessment of work-related mental strain and job demands. The interactive tool allows independant assessment of work-related strain situations in the workplace, as it shows the psychomental strain index and provides fundamental measures related to ergonomic job design.

Aims and objectives

Though disability to work due to diseases of the musculoskeletal system and connective tissue occurs twice as often as incapacity to work due to mental and behavioural disorders, in the period from 2000 to 2012 the number of mental and behavioural disorders has almost tripled. For this reason all actors involved have to make stronger efforts towards preventive measures in regard to work-related mental strain and implement adequate ergonomic measures. The business location Germany has not only to deal with office and monitor workstations, but must focus on production work stations in industry, trade and craft. This requires transparent and economically usable methods for working processes.

The basis to repair the economic and financial crisis in Germany, that has begun in 2007 was formed by the production work stations in industry, trade and crafts. Thus, these work stations should form the focus of preventive measures adressing psychomental workload. Transparent and economically usable methods are required in the future to address psychomental workload in-house and industry-wide. For this purpose - in addition to the paper version- "questionnaire for the assessment of mental workload FEMA" was developed in 2012 as interactive online tool. It is available for individual and free use (cross-media approach).
