As a certified Child Passenger Seat Technician (CPST) from NHTSA, USA from 2019-2021, we aim to transfer the Child Safety Seat knowledge and empower the main workforce in this field. We capitalist in using professionals from the public university and medical school to transfer the knowledge. Thus the credibility of the information and acceptability of it is much higher.

Aims and objectives

There are few main safety messages crossed over to the target group (Car seat Dealers and Salesman besides Enforcement Agency Staffs) of this safety initiative. They are:

1. Empower the Car seat dealers and salesman on the importance of using a standard child safety seat

2. Empower the Car seat dealers and salesman on how to identify a standard child safety seat

3. Empower the Car seat dealers and salesman on the importance of reading and following both manuals (car and child seat) for installation.

4. Empower the Car seat dealers and salesman on the safest place to install the child seat in the car.

5. Empower the Enforcement Agency workforce in enforcing the new regulation correctly and in the spirit in safety.

To meet the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goal 3.6 of halving the road deaths and injuries by 2020, Malaysia Government introduced the Child Safety Seat Regulation beginning January 2020. Thus to prepare and support the whole system towards the success of this traffic safety intervention program, Safe Kids Malaysia Universiti Putra Malaysia came out with a Public Empowerment Initiative mainly targeting the main stakeholders in this field who are the Car Seat Dealers and Salesman who will be involved full time in identifying the right child seat needed by the consumer for a safe travel for the children at all times in a car. In addition this empowerment initiative also targeted the Enforcement Agency to educate them about this new regulation in order to facilitate them in enforcing it correctly towards a safe travel passage for the children and all car occupants including adults (who are occupational workers).
